Honda and Aston Martin Reveal 2026 F1 Car with New Power Unit

Honda has partnered with Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team to unveil the livery of the AMR26, the team's new Formula One car for the 2026 season. The vehicle is powered by Honda's RA626H power unit, marking a critical development as new regulations come into play, affecting both chassis and power unit designs for the first time.

Adrian Newey, Managing Technical Partner and Team Principal at Aston Martin Aramco Formula One, highlighted the significance of the changes, stating that the AMR26 is the first vehicle to be developed by the team under the new regulations. He emphasized the holistic approach taken in designing the car, focusing on the total package rather than individual components, to ensure consistent performance for drivers Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso.

Honda Racing Corporation President Koji Watanabe expressed excitement about the partnership with Aston Martin, emphasizing the challenge and opportunity presented by the new regulations. The RA626H power unit has been developed to meet the demands of the new season, and both teams are conducting pre-season testing in Bahrain to fine-tune their strategies before the season-opening race at the Australian Grand Prix on March 8, 2026.

The upcoming Formula One season will feature an extensive calendar, starting in Melbourne and including races in key locations such as Shanghai, Suzuka, and Sakhir. The season will conclude in December at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, after 24 rounds. The changes in regulations present Aston Martin and Honda with a unique opportunity to redefine their competitive edge in the sport.

Drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll are gearing up for the season, bringing diverse experience and skill to the team. Alonso, aged 44, achieved a best finish of 10th in the 2025 season, while 27-year-old Stroll's best result was 16th. The collaboration aims to enhance their performance in the competitive field of Formula One.
