Hitachi and Anthropic Partner to Enhance AI in Critical Infrastructure

Hitachi, Ltd. has announced a strategic partnership with Anthropic PBC to enhance its Lumada 3.0 business model through advanced AI integrations. This collaboration aims to address the growing demand for safe and seamless AI deployment in mission-critical environments.

The partnership will leverage Hitachi's extensive domain knowledge and expertise in IT, OT, and products, combined with Anthropic's frontier AI capabilities. This collaboration is set to accelerate advancements in system engineering, operations, and cybersecurity across critical infrastructure sectors such as energy, transportation, manufacturing, and finance.

To maximize value creation, Hitachi plans to integrate Anthropic's advanced AI models, including Claude, across its global operations, involving approximately 290,000 employees. This initiative is part of Hitachi's internal transformation strategy, termed 'Customer Zero,' which aims to enhance productivity and drive enterprise-wide transformation.

Additionally, Hitachi and Anthropic will jointly develop talent programs to cultivate around 100,000 AI professionals. This effort is expected to support the advancement of Hitachi's HMAX solutions, which integrate advanced AI applications into mission-critical environments.

The formation of the Frontier AI Deployment Center will serve as the core of Hitachi's AI collaboration ecosystem. Initially comprising a team of 100 experts, the center is expected to expand to 300 members. The center will focus on co-creating physical AI use cases, deploying advanced AI technologies in real-world settings, and developing next-generation solutions.

Jun Abe, Executive Vice President of Hitachi, emphasized the importance of this partnership in addressing societal challenges and promoting digital transformation. By combining Anthropic's AI technology with Hitachi's domain expertise, the companies aim to enhance the resilience and sustainability of customer operations and infrastructure.
