The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is set to host the fifth International Healthcare Week in May 2026, featuring two flagship events: the sixth Asia Summit on Global Health (ASGH) and the 17th Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Fair. These events aim to cover the full spectrum of the medical and healthcare industry, including technology research and development, investment matching, and medical equipment manufacturing.
The ASGH, scheduled for May 11-12, will convene a diverse group of international health officials, scientific, medical, and industry experts, startups, and investors. The summit will focus on high-growth areas such as biopharmaceuticals, AI-empowered healthcare, and the modernization of traditional Chinese medicine. Key sessions will address global collaboration in pandemic preparedness and the commercialization of research outcomes.
Notable speakers include Nobel Prize Laureate Professor Michael Levitt, who will discuss the transformative impact of technology on future healthcare. The summit will also feature sessions on AI's role in healthcare and the silver economy, addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by an aging population.
The Hong Kong International Medical and Healthcare Fair, running from May 11-13, will showcase innovations in MedTech, GeronTech, and preventive healthcare. With around 300 exhibitors from 10 countries, the fair will highlight products integrating AI and robotic technology, such as a smart health wearable watch and an augmented reality surgical platform.
Both events aim to reinforce Hong Kong's position as a leading biotech and investment hub in Asia, aligning with the National 15th Five-Year Plan's emphasis on health development. The HKTDC's efforts are expected to boost cross-border investment and facilitate the commercialization of research outcomes.
International Healthcare Week will feature 17 healthcare-related conferences, seminars, roundtables, and networking activities, promoting innovation and investment exchange in the Asian healthcare industry. These initiatives are designed to create industry synergies and enhance Hong Kong's development as a regional medical innovation hub.
