Honda Launches Fourth-Generation EV Insight in Japan

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. is set to launch the all-new Honda Insight, a fully electric vehicle, in Japan on April 17, 2026. This marks the introduction of the fourth-generation model, which continues the legacy of the Insight as Honda's pioneering hybrid vehicle since its debut in 1999.

The new Insight is characterized by its distinctive crossover SUV design, aiming to deliver a strong presence and dynamic driving performance. Its exterior features a sharp, flowing form, while the interior emphasizes comfort and high-quality materials, offering a relaxing experience for both drivers and passengers.

With a range of 535 kilometers per charge in the WLTC mode, the Insight is designed to meet various everyday driving needs, from commuting to leisure trips. The vehicle is equipped with a high-power, high-torque drive unit and a large-capacity battery, which supports fast charging, reducing the waiting time for an 80% charge to approximately 40 minutes.

The Insight's interior enhancements include an Intelligent Heating System, which optimizes energy consumption and comfort, and an aroma diffuser with multiple fragrance options to enhance the in-cabin experience. A BOSE Premium Sound System with 12 speakers further contributes to the vehicle's appeal, offering an immersive audio experience.

Safety and driver assistance are prioritized with the inclusion of Honda SENSING, a suite of advanced safety features such as Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Keeping Assist System, among others. These features aim to provide a safe and comfortable driving experience.

The all-new Insight will be available in a limited quantity of 3,000 units, with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of 5,500,000 yen, inclusive of a 10% consumption tax. A special limited edition with a white interior will be sold exclusively through Honda ON, the company's online vehicle sales platform.

The launch of the Insight underscores Honda's commitment to expanding its electric vehicle lineup and offering innovative solutions in the evolving automotive market.
