ROHM Launches New SiC Modules to Enhance Energy Efficiency

ROHM Co., Ltd. has initiated online sales of its new silicon carbide (SiC) molded modules, branded as TRCDRIVE pack, HSDIP20, and DOT-247, in response to global concerns over power supply constraints and the need for energy conservation.

The TRCDRIVE pack is a notable addition, featuring a 2-in-1 SiC molded module compatible with traction inverters for electric vehicles up to 300kW. Incorporating ROHM's 4th Generation SiC MOSFETs, it offers a power density 1.5 times greater than standard SiC molded modules, aiding in the miniaturization of xEV inverters. The module's design facilitates faster installation by allowing top-insertion connection of the gate driver board.

HSDIP20 is available in 4-in-1 and 6-in-1 configurations, catering to xEV onboard chargers, EV charging stations, server power supplies, and AC servos. Its compact module package integrates essential circuits for power conversion in high-power applications, offering models with 750V and 1200V ratings. This configuration aims to simplify design and support circuit miniaturization.

Additionally, the DOT-247 module is tailored for industrial applications such as photovoltaic inverters and uninterruptible power supply systems. While maintaining the versatility of the TO-247 package, it achieves high power density through adaptable configurations in half-bridge and common-source topologies. This option facilitates fewer component requirements and reduced mounting space, thereby minimizing design efforts.

These modules are available through distributors like DigiKey as ROHM continues its commitment to advanced power conversion technologies under its EcoSiC brand.
