ROHM Develops High Anti-Surge SDR01 Chip Resistors for Advanced Electronics

ROHM Co., Ltd. has introduced the SDR01 Series of high anti-surge chip resistors. These resistors achieve a rated power of 0.33 watts within the compact 0402 (1005 Metric) size, optimizing them for use in high-density electronic equipment applications.

The new SDR01 Series is tailored for automotive, industrial, consumer electronics, and AI server applications, where mounting densities are on the rise. The series allows the replacement of larger-size resistors and consolidation of multiple resistors, thus saving board space and reducing component count while maintaining the reliability required for such components.

As demands for more functional and high-power electronic equipment grow, the need for compact and reliable components, such as anti-surge chip resistors, also increases. These components are crucial for power supply circuits and interfaces, where resistance to surges, electrostatic discharge (ESD), and high-power capability are vital.

To address these requirements, ROHM has enhanced the resistive element and electrode designs of the SDR01 Series. This improvement ensures that the high rated power is maintained in the compact 0402 size while guaranteeing the reliability expected of high anti-surge chip resistors.

The SDR01 Series guarantees 0.33 watts up to a rated terminal temperature of 125 degrees Celsius, making them ideal for demanding thermal environments. These environments include areas with high-density mounting and proximity to heat-generating components, effectively reducing the thermal design burden in these scenarios.

Additionally, these products achieve a temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of plus or minus 100 ppm per degree Celsius for resistances between 10 ohms and 2.2 megohms. By minimizing resistance-value fluctuations due to temperature changes, the SDR01 Series supports stable circuit operation, contributing to the development of smaller, more reliable power supply circuits and peripheral interface circuits.

ROHM continues to expand its lineup of high-reliability chip resistors, aiming to advance miniaturization, enhance power handling, and increase reliability in electronic equipment by building on the innovations presented in the SDR01 Series.
