Sharp Corporation is set to expand its Poketomo line with the introduction of a second conversational AI character in December 2026. This new character will be rolled out in Taiwan, following the success of the first Poketomo character launched last December.
The second Poketomo character is inspired by a manga featured on Sharp’s official X account, presenting a self-assured and slightly gruff personality. Despite its straightforward demeanor, the character is designed to be caring and supportive, offering users a unique conversational experience. As users spend more time with the character, it reveals unexpected sides, enhancing the user experience.
Sharp also plans to introduce new interactive features, allowing spontaneous conversations between two Poketomo characters when they are in proximity. This interaction aims to provide gentle and heartwarming moments for users.
To complement the launch, Sharp will expand its range of original Poketomo accessories. These include clothing, hats, and pouches, enabling users to personalize their AI companions and take them on outings. Additionally, a Poketomo Ambassador Program will be established to incorporate user feedback into future merchandise and initiatives.
The second Poketomo character will be previewed at the Tokyo Toy Show 2026, held at Tokyo Big Sight from August 27 to August 30. This event will offer attendees a first look at the new character and its capabilities.
Sharp's Poketomo initiative reflects the company's commitment to integrating innovative AI technologies into everyday life, potentially opening new avenues for consumer engagement and product development.
