NTT DOCOMO to End MANGA MIRAI Service, Transition to MangaPlaza

NTT DOCOMO, INC. announced it will discontinue its MANGA MIRAI digital comic distribution service in the United States by December 15, 2026. The service, which launched in March 2025, will cease operations due to the current business environment, affecting its library of over 28,000 volumes from 2,400 Japanese manga titles.

New membership registrations, title purchases, and app provisions will end on August 19, 2026. Customers will have until September 30, 2026, to create an account on MangaPlaza, a service operated by NTT Solmare Corporation, to migrate their purchased titles and user information. Titles available on MANGA MIRAI will remain accessible on MangaPlaza, though some free and purchased titles may not be eligible for migration.

Customers under 18 years of age as of September 30, 2026, will not be able to create an account on MangaPlaza, and their purchased titles will not be migrated. Those wishing to opt-out of the migration must submit a request by the same date. DOCOMO will provide guidance to affected customers on refunds and next steps.

NTT DOCOMO is committed to enhancing its service offerings and adapting to changing market conditions, as it transitions its digital comic distribution efforts to MangaPlaza in the U.S. market.
