NEC Corporation announced an agreement to transfer its overseas network equipment resale and IT services businesses to a consortium led by Assist Group S.r.l. The transfer is expected to be completed during fiscal year 2026, pending customary closing conditions.
The businesses involved in the transfer include systems for telecommunications operators and enterprises using network equipment from partner companies, as well as IT services for governments and local authorities in certain countries. These operations are primarily located in Latin America, the Asia-Pacific, and Europe.
NEC will continue to operate these businesses until the transfer is finalized, ensuring a smooth transition with partner companies. Notably, NEC will maintain the supply of biometric authentication-related products in the affected regions even after the transfer is complete.
Takayuki Morita, President and CEO of NEC Corporation, expressed confidence that under new ownership, the businesses will provide higher-value solutions to customers, emphasizing long-term growth, investment, and human resource development.
This strategic move is part of NEC’s review of its business portfolio, aiming to enhance corporate value and strengthen profitability. NEC plans to focus on its software and services business, leveraging its competitive advantages in sectors such as government, finance, and telecommunications.
