Honda's EV Outlier Concept and brand film for its electric motorcycle business have been recognized with Red Dot Design Awards in 2026. The EV Outlier Concept secured a win in the Design Concept category, while the brand film titled “What Is a Motorcycle? / Electric Motorcycles” received accolades in the Brand & Communication Design category.
The EV Outlier Concept, showcased at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, reimagines motorcycles for the post-2030 era. It features in-wheel motors on both the front and rear wheels, allowing for dynamic styling and a low-proportion design. The concept emphasizes a lowered riding position to enhance the rider's view and acceleration experience, encapsulating Honda's theme of “Precision of Intrinsic Design.”
Honda's brand film aligns with the company's promise for its electric motorcycle division: “Expected life. Unexpected discoveries.” The film explores the unique values that electric mobility can offer and envisions a future where electric motorcycles integrate harmoniously into society, offering new lifestyles and experiences.
Toshinobu Minami, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Honda R&D Co., Ltd.'s Design Center, expressed honor in receiving the prestigious Red Dot awards. Minami highlighted Honda's commitment to anticipating future needs and creating new values that inspire and expand life's potential.
The Red Dot Award, established in 1955, is one of the most respected design awards globally, administered by Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany.
