Seafood Legacy Co., Ltd. and Nikkei ESG are set to host the Sustainable Seafood Summit 2026 (TSSS2026) in Tokyo from October 21 to 23, 2026. The event, which is regarded as one of Asia's largest gatherings focused on sustainable seafood, aims to address critical challenges within the seafood sector and explore solutions for advancing sustainable fisheries and aquaculture.
TSSS2026 seeks to unite key international stakeholders, including businesses, governments, researchers, investors, and civil society organizations (CSOs), to share the latest insights and strategies amid pressing issues like climate change, geopolitical uncertainty, illegal, unreported, unregulated (IUU) fishing, biodiversity loss, and human rights risks. These challenges pose threats to marine ecosystems, supply chains, and global food security.
Themed “Resonating Actions, Expanding Impact,” the summit intends to foster collaboration for practical solutions that drive positive change in the industry. Through discussions and sessions, participants will engage in topics such as building sustainable small-scale fisheries and aquaculture in East Asia and exploring blue finance for a nature-positive seafood industry.
Highlighting the significance of trust as a key competitive advantage, the event emphasizes the importance of supply chain transparency and collaboration. East Asia, recognized as home to some of the world's largest seafood markets, is poised to become a global leader in sustainable seafood practices.
TSSS2026 will feature several tentative sessions, including the 7th Japan Sustainable Seafood Award (JSSA 2026) Ceremony, alongside presentations from notable speakers such as Ray Dhirani from the Marine Stewardship Council & Aquaculture Stewardship Council, Songlin Wang of the Qingdao Marine Conservation Society, Dick Jones from the National Fisheries Institute Sushi Council, and Masaru Ikemi of UMIOS Corporation.
The three-day event, taking place at Tokyo Portcity Takeshiba, will require pre-registration for a networking reception on the first day.
