Foxconn and Sharp Forge Strategic Collaboration for AI and Emerging Technologies

Hon Hai Technology Group, commonly known as Foxconn, and Sharp Corporation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for strategic collaboration aimed at expanding market opportunities and accelerating the creation of new businesses.

The collaboration will leverage Foxconn's technologies based on its '3+3+3' strategy, which includes AI, energy, robotics, electric vehicles (EVs), and next-generation communications, alongside Sharp's brand, market channels, and service network.

Under the MoU, the companies will explore joint research and development, proof of concept, and market deployment to strengthen competitiveness. The initial focus will be on establishing a research and development platform, integrating Foxconn's key growth areas with Sharp's market presence.

The agreement covers areas such as AI infrastructure, energy and ESG-related applications, robotics, smart automation systems, next-generation communications technologies, and smart cities. The companies aim to develop innovative products and services tailored to market needs.

In the AI server business, where Sharp has announced its market entry, the collaboration will consider deploying AI server-related products and solutions under the Sharp brand. This initiative aims to meet the growing demand for high-performance computing and AI applications.

Foxconn Chairman Young Liu expressed optimism about the collaboration, highlighting the potential for creating synergies between the organizations and developing new business models in growth sectors like AI, energy, and robotics.

Sharp President and CEO Tetsuji Kawamura emphasized the company's strong brand presence and customer base, anticipating that the collaboration will drive further growth by combining Sharp's strengths with Foxconn's capabilities in research and development and global supply chains.

The companies plan to carefully examine collaboration opportunities across various areas, closely monitoring market needs and industry trends. Through a phased approach to implementation, Foxconn and Sharp aim to create long-term value together.
