NEC Partners with Anthropic to Enhance AI Adoption in Japan

NEC Corporation has announced a strategic partnership with Anthropic PBC to boost the use of artificial intelligence in Japan's enterprise sector. This collaboration marks NEC as the first global partner of Anthropic based in Japan.

The companies will jointly develop secure, industry-specific AI solutions for sectors such as finance, manufacturing, and local government. These solutions will integrate customer expertise with Anthropic's AI technology, focusing on high security and compliance with local regulations.

The partnership will leverage Anthropic's AI agent, Claude Cowork, to enhance NEC's next-generation cybersecurity services. NEC plans to incorporate Claude into its NEC BluStellar Scenario framework to support customer transformation efforts.

NEC aims to deploy Claude across its global workforce, comprising approximately 30,000 employees, to foster an AI-native engineering team. This initiative is part of NEC's Client Zero strategy, which uses AI to improve internal development processes.

Anthropic's Chief Commercial Officer, Paul Smith, expressed gratitude for the collaboration, emphasizing the shared commitment to developing trustworthy AI solutions for Japanese enterprises. Toshifumi Yoshizaki, NEC's COO, highlighted the partnership's potential to meet the high standards of safety and reliability required by Japanese companies.

Through this alliance, NEC and Anthropic aim to accelerate the implementation of AI technologies, contributing to business transformation and competitive enhancement for Japanese enterprises and public administration.
