Honda Motor Co., Ltd. announced plans to introduce two U.S.-built models, the Acura Integra Type S and Honda Passport TrailSport Elite, to the Japanese market in the second half of 2026. This move leverages a new, simplified certification system for U.S.-made passenger vehicles established by Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
The Acura Integra Type S and Honda Passport TrailSport Elite are manufactured by Honda Development & Manufacturing of America, LLC. Honda aims to enhance its product lineup in Japan to meet diverse customer needs by reverse-importing these models.
Both models were showcased at the Tokyo Auto Salon and Osaka Auto Messe earlier in 2026, where they generated significant interest among attendees. The Acura Integra Type S is known for its high-performance features, including a 6-speed manual transmission and a 2-liter turbocharged engine, while the Honda Passport TrailSport Elite offers robust off-road capabilities alongside a comfortable on-road experience.
