Fujitsu Launches AI-Driven Software Development Platform

Fujitsu Limited has unveiled its AI-Driven Software Development Platform, aiming to revolutionize software development by automating processes from requirements definition to integration testing. The platform utilizes the Takane large language model and agentic AI technology, designed to handle complex, large-scale systems for enterprises and public organizations.

The platform's capabilities were demonstrated in a proof of concept, where it reduced development time for a software update from three person-months to four hours, marking a 100-fold increase in productivity. Fujitsu plans to implement this platform across 67 types of medical and government software products by the end of fiscal year 2026, responding to legal and regulatory changes.

Fujitsu's initiative is positioned to address the growing demand for IT solutions and the shortage of skilled IT professionals. The company emphasizes AI-Ready Engineering, which prepares assets and knowledge to ensure AI's accurate understanding of existing systems, as a critical component of this transformation.

Endorsements from industry leaders highlight the potential impact of Fujitsu's platform. Takashi Manabe of IDC Japan noted the initiative's role in modernizing legacy systems, while Shinji Kajitani of Optima Corporation praised its potential to automate complex system changes. Hiroshi Nakatani of Kawasaki Heavy Industries emphasized the platform's ability to support human judgment and creativity.

Fujitsu plans to extend the platform's application to sectors such as finance, manufacturing, retail, and public services by fiscal year 2026. The company also intends to offer the platform to customers and partners, enabling rapid and flexible system development in response to business environment changes.

Industry leaders, including executives from Google Cloud Japan, IBM Japan, and Microsoft Corp., expressed support for the platform's potential to transform system development. They highlighted its role in addressing talent shortages and the increasing complexity of modern systems.

Fujitsu's AI-Driven Software Development Platform represents a significant step in redefining software development processes, with the potential to become an industry standard and drive digital transformation across various sectors.
