Fujitsu Limited has introduced the Fujitsu Trusted Supplychain Service, a new information-sharing platform designed to enhance security across supply chains. Launched on August 20, 2026, this service facilitates secure data exchange and communication, adhering to the NIST SP 800-171 security standard set by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology.
The service is the first of its kind in Japan and targets companies in sectors such as defense and critical infrastructure, which demand rigorous security measures. By leveraging the capabilities of U.S.-based Exostar LLC, Fujitsu's long-term partner since 2019, the service aims to reduce the complexities and costs associated with system construction and operation, thereby improving business continuity and competitiveness.
In recent years, the sophistication and severity of cyberattacks have escalated, making the protection of critical data like design information and intellectual property a pressing concern. This is particularly crucial for companies in the defense industry, where consistent security levels throughout the supply chain are essential to mitigate risks.
The introduction of the Economic Security Promotion Act in Japan, along with new information security standards for defense equipment procurement, underscores the growing importance of stringent security management. Many of these requirements reference the NIST SP 800-171 standard, making compliance a critical prerequisite for high security levels.
Fujitsu's Trusted Supplychain Service integrates Exostar's reliable authentication and authorization functions, and is tailored for the Japanese market. Data management is conducted in domestic data centers registered under the Information System Security Management and Assessment Program (ISMAP), with monitoring and support handled by Fujitsu's experts in Japan.
The service also incorporates communication functions based on Microsoft 365, ensuring ease of use and seamless adoption. Fujitsu is exploring the integration of AI functions within the service, in collaboration with Exostar, to further enhance its capabilities.
In addition, Fujitsu is launching the Trusted Supplychain Service for U.S. CUI, which utilizes a U.S. cloud infrastructure to meet security requirements for handling Controlled Unclassified Information as defined by the U.S. government. This service is tailored for companies needing compliance with U.S. regulatory requirements for transactions with the Department of Defense.
Through this initiative, Fujitsu aims to bolster the security of supply chains within Japanese companies and enhance their international competitiveness. The company is committed to continuously developing advanced services that empower businesses and contribute to a secure society.
