Fujitsu Limited has introduced a new digital system designed to enhance the management of Japan's Reserve Self-Defense Force personnel. The system, known as ReSMS, leverages Salesforce technology to streamline mobilization and training support, marking a significant shift from traditional methods.
The system, which began operations in April 2026, aims to digitalize and centralize the management functions of Reserve Self-Defense Force personnel. These personnel, who are civilians during peacetime, are mobilized during national emergencies or disasters to perform duties such as garrison security and disaster relief.
Previously, scheduling mandatory annual training for these personnel was a time-consuming process managed through postal mail and telephone. Fujitsu's collaboration with the Ministry of Defense has resulted in a more efficient system where personnel can now book training and access e-learning modules via smartphones or other devices.
Administrators can utilize ReSMS to manage mobilization tasks and track training participation and educational progress. This centralized approach facilitates better planning and coordination of training schedules, improving operational efficiency and ensuring timely mobilization during emergencies.
Fujitsu plans to continue enhancing the functionality of ReSMS to support the Ministry of Defense in maintaining a rapid and efficient Reserve Self-Defense Force system, contributing to national security efforts.
