Japan International Broadcasting Launches Channel Oishii on Amasian TV

Japan International Broadcasting Inc. (JIB) has partnered with ODK Media, operator of Amasian TV, to introduce Channel Oishii, a new Japanese food and lifestyle channel. Announced on March 27, Channel Oishii is the first of its kind on the ad-supported free streaming TV platform, offering a 24/7 lineup that includes dramas, films, documentaries, and anime.

The channel aims to engage North American audiences by showcasing the flavors and stories that define Japanese food culture. As described by Hiroshi Maeda, JIB President and CEO, the channel offers North American viewers the opportunity to explore Japanese culinary traditions, free of charge.

The introduction of Channel Oishii aligns with the increasing interest in Japanese cuisine across North America. In 2025, Japan recorded a surge in international visitors, with more than 42 million people attracted to the country’s cultural and culinary experiences.

Featured content on Channel Oishii includes “The Solitary Gourmet,” a food drama following Goro Inogashira, a traveling salesman savoring meals alone, and “Shibuyummy,” a series exploring Tokyo’s Shibuya district’s culinary scene. These stories aim to provide a rich connection to Japan’s culinary landscape, from casual ramen shops to upscale sushi counters.

Peter Park, Chief Strategy Officer at ODK Media, highlights the role of free streaming platforms as crucial pathways for discovering global content. He notes that Channel Oishii's presence on Amasian TV gives audiences access to Japanese food culture, aligning with the platform’s mission to enhance international storytelling accessibility.

Channel Oishii is currently available for free on Amasian TV in the United States and Canada on Channel 500. The channel’s live stream and AVOD can be accessed via smart TV, mobile devices, or the web. The platform also uses Amagi's technology for reliable distribution across North America and Deepdub's AI-inspired dubbing for authentic localization.
