Hong Kong Film and TV Market Celebrates 30th Edition with Global Participation

The 30th Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART) commenced on March 17, 2026, at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, marking a significant milestone for the event. Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the four-day gathering brings together industry leaders to showcase new productions and technologies, while discussing international trends and opportunities.

This year's FILMART, part of the broader Entertainment Expo Hong Kong, features a record participation of exhibitors from 38 countries and regions, including newcomers from Belgium, Myanmar, Poland, Sri Lanka, and Uzbekistan. The event's international scope is further enhanced by the presence of major mainland Chinese companies like Tencent Video, Bilibili, iQIYI, and Youku, aiming to expand their overseas presence.

The opening ceremony was officiated by prominent figures, including Chan Kwok Ki, Chief Secretary for Administration of HKSAR, and Rosanna Law, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of HKSAR. The ceremony also celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF), highlighting the city's role in the global entertainment industry.

Fostering cross-regional collaboration, FILMART hosts Producers Connect, a networking initiative involving over 100 producers from around the world. The program facilitates business matching sessions and discussions on co-production trends, with notable speakers such as Hong Kong director Peter Chan and Golden Globe-winning producer Janet Yang.

The AI Hub, introduced last year, returns with an expanded scale, featuring leading AI and technology companies like Alibaba Cloud and MiniMax. The hub aims to support mainland enterprises in global expansion and showcases innovations in AI-generated content, short dramas, and animation.

EntertainmentPulse, held alongside FILMART, explores critical topics such as film financing, global short drama opportunities, and AI-film production collaboration. Industry leaders, including Justin Deimen of Goldfinch International and Bennett Pozil of East West Bank, share insights on financing trends and strategies in the Asian film industry.

The Hong Kong – Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF), part of the HKIFF Industry Project Market, showcases 42 film projects from 22 countries and regions, providing a platform for industry exchange and collaboration. The diverse selection includes animation and genre projects, reflecting the creative vitality of Asian storytelling.

FILMART continues to be a pivotal event in the global entertainment landscape, fostering international partnerships and showcasing the latest industry innovations.
