TANAKA PRECIOUS METAL GROUP Co., Ltd. will supply gold, silver, and bronze medals for the top finishers of the marathon and wheelchair marathon events at the Tokyo Marathon 2026. The event, organized by the Tokyo Marathon Foundation, is set for March 1, 2026.
The medals feature a design that represents the marathon's theme, 'The Day We Unite,' with woven lines symbolizing the runners, supporters, and volunteers. The front of the medal displays the event's logo, while the back includes the event name in Braille, 'FINISHER,' the date, and TANAKA's logo.
In alignment with the Tokyo Marathon's sustainability initiatives, the medal ribbons are crafted from recycled polyester. The gold medals utilize TANAKA's 'RE Series' regenerated precious metals, made entirely from recycled materials, supporting the event's focus on waste reduction, environmental conservation, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The Tokyo Marathon 2026 marks the 19th edition of this significant public event in Japan, with the 20th anniversary approaching in 2027. The marathon aims to be the safest, most exciting, and friendliest race globally, adopting the keyword 'Run. Tokyo. Own.' to emphasize individual stories and collective unity.
TANAKA has been producing Tokyo Marathon medals since 2007 and has expanded its involvement in sports by supporting para sports and creating commemorative medals for the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games. The company's ongoing commitment to sports promotion reflects its dedication to fostering an inclusive and healthier society.
The gold medal weighs approximately 100 grams and is made of pure silver with gold plating, while the silver medal is also 100 grams of pure silver, and the bronze medal is 85 grams with copper plating. Each medal measures 65mm in diameter and is about 3mm thick.
The Tokyo Marathon 2026 is co-organized by the Japan Association of Athletics Federations, Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and other prominent organizations, with Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. as the presenting partner. Official partners include Mastercard, ASICS Japan Corp., and McDonald's Company (Japan), Ltd., among others.
