Fujitsu Japan Limited and JMDC Inc. have announced a partnership to enhance Japan's healthcare system by leveraging medical data. The collaboration, which commenced on January 5, aims to improve medical care and establish a sustainable healthcare framework in Japan.
The partnership combines JMDC's anonymized medical data expertise with Fujitsu Japan's extensive customer base, which holds the top share in Japan's electronic health record market. This synergy is set to accelerate data utilization among medical institutions and support data-driven management decisions.
The initiative will integrate Fujitsu Japan's medical field knowledge and AI technologies with JMDC's predictive models based on insurance user data. This collaboration will expand data use from Diagnosis Procedure Combination (DPC) data to comprehensive electronic health record data, benefiting medical institutions, pharmaceutical companies, government agencies, and academia.
Fujitsu Japan will offer Dashboard 360, a free solution for visualizing and analyzing management and clinical data, to medical institutions willing to provide anonymized DPC data. Dashboard 360 is part of Fujitsu Limited's Uvance business model, which aims to maximize hospital efficiency within its Smart Hospital offering.
This platform integrates with electronic health records to analyze issues such as declining bed occupancy and extended hospitalization waiting times, using data from inpatient and outpatient conditions. It also features a benchmarking function to support timely hospital management decisions.
JMDC will provide anonymized DPC data in a secure environment to pharmaceutical companies, government agencies, and universities for research. Combined with JMDC's insurance user data, this will enable visualization of the patient journey, aiding in early disease detection, preventing severe cases by identifying risk factors, and evaluating long-term treatment effects.
The collaboration seeks to address Japan's healthcare challenges, including an aging population and rising medical expenses, by leveraging medical data to improve diagnostic accuracy, operational efficiency, and regional healthcare collaboration.
