Navitime Japan Co., Ltd. has released its Navitime Spot Search Ranking 2025, which identifies the most frequently searched travel destinations within Japan. The study is based on data from navigation service spot searches by both Japanese and international travelers. The results reveal Universal Studios Japan (USJ) as the leading tourist spot, followed by Nara Park and the Fushimi Inari Shrine.
According to the rankings, domestic users focused majorly on notable events and Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, while international visitors exhibited distinct tastes, gravitating towards diverse destinations across the country.
European travelers showed a fondness for history and nature, making a beeline for the historic Nikko Toshogu Shrine and Shirakawa-go. In the meanwhile, tourists from Oceania were pulled towards active experiences, landing USJ and teamLab Planets Tokyo DMM at the top of their lists. Fuji-Q Highland Amusement Park also ranked well among this demographic.
Visitors from Asia showed preference for shopping and entertainment, as evidenced by high demand for venues like USJ, Tokyo Disneyland and Gotemba Premium Outlets. On the contrary, the classic Golden Route was more popular among North American travelers, although a pattern of appreciating Japan’s street food culture emerged with the inclusion of Yokohama Chinatown, Dotonbori, and Nishiki Market in the top 10.

The search data for this ranking comprised inputs from the Navitime app, Navitime Drive Supporter, Japan Travel by Navitime, and other services provided by Navitime Japan, collected between December 1, 2024, and November 30, 2025.
