Sharp Corporation has announced the introduction of the AQUOS wish6, a basic smartphone designed to offer a blend of durability and user-friendly features. The new model will be available in Japan and Taiwan starting mid-September 2026, with sales commencing in phases.
The AQUOS wish6 is equipped with a 6.6-inch display that boasts a maximum brightness of approximately 1,000 nits, doubling the brightness of its predecessor, the AQUOS wish5. This enhancement ensures easy viewing even in bright outdoor conditions. The display also supports a high refresh rate of 120 Hz, providing smooth video playback.
Constructed with a frame incorporating metal components, the AQUOS wish6 achieves a slim design while enhancing its resistance to bending by about 20% compared to the previous model. It includes a 5,000 mAh battery, water and dust resistance, and shock resistance, adhering to the U.S. Department of Defense's MIL-STD-810H standards.
Security features include a loud alarm activated by shaking the phone, automatic calls to pre-registered contacts, and SMS alerts with location information. The phone's AI analyzes call content to identify potential scams and can restrict international calls to prevent fraud.
The AQUOS wish6 also offers camera functions that improve document readability by removing shadows and correcting keystone distortion. Users can customize their experience with various fonts and screen settings, including Easy Mode and Junior Mode for different user preferences.
For long-term use, the phone supports microSD cards up to 2 TB and features a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It promises up to two OS updates and four years of security updates, ensuring the device remains current with technological advancements.
