JCB International Co., Ltd. has announced that its contactless payment system is now accepted on the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority's (LA Metro) TAP validators. This development is part of LA Metro's initiative to enhance convenience and accessibility for its users.
Fumihiko Mitsuoka, President & CEO of JCB USA, expressed enthusiasm about the integration, noting that JCB cardholders can now use contactless payments across LA Metro's trains and buses by tapping their cards or smartphones. This feature is expected to improve the payment experience for JCB's predominantly Asian cardholder base, many of whom travel to Los Angeles.
LA Metro operates an extensive transportation network in the United States, serving as a crucial link for residents and visitors in Los Angeles County. The inclusion of JCB Contactless in its payment options is seen as a step forward in modernizing the public transportation system.
JCB has been a leader in contactless payment technology since the early 2000s, particularly in Japan. With its global acceptance network expanding, JCB aims to provide enhanced convenience and security for transportation users worldwide.
