JCB International Co., Ltd., the international arm of Japan's sole international payment brand, has formed a direct acquiring partnership with Southeast Asia's fintech platform Fiuu. This collaboration aims to enhance payment processing capabilities across Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines.
The partnership enables direct connectivity between JCB and Fiuu, supporting seamless payment experiences for merchants and JCB cardmembers in both online and offline channels. This development aligns with the evolving digital commerce and payments landscape in Southeast Asia, characterized by increasing digital transactions and card usage.
Fiuu CEO Eng Sheng Guan emphasized the importance of this partnership in supporting regional acquiring growth, noting that businesses expanding in Southeast Asia require payment partners with local market understanding and operational depth. “Our direct acquiring relationship with JCB strengthens that foundation, allowing us to support merchants with broader acceptance and greater consistency,” he said.
Shimpei Yamaguchi, Managing Director of JCB International Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., highlighted Fiuu's regional expertise and fast-growing merchant network as key factors in expanding JCB acceptance across the region. “Together, we are committed to making JCB more accessible to merchants and cardmembers while expanding the payment network for JCB cardmembers,” Yamaguchi stated.
The partnership also sets the stage for future expansion into additional Southeast Asian markets, including Thailand, as JCB and Fiuu aim to strengthen payment acceptance and deliver greater value to merchants and cardmembers.
