Honda is set to commemorate the 40th anniversary of its first Formula One Constructors' Championship, achieved in 1986, with a series of global events and programs. The celebration will highlight Honda's pioneering spirit and its historical achievements in the world of motorsports.
The centerpiece of the commemoration is the global showrun program featuring the Williams Honda FW11, the car that powered Honda to its first Constructors' title. The FW11, known for its dominant performance with a 1.5-liter V6 twin-turbo engine, will make appearances at major motorsport events worldwide.
Among the scheduled events is the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026, taking place from July 9 to 12 in West Sussex, United Kingdom. The FW11 will be driven by Damon Hill, the 1996 F1 Drivers' Champion, and Ryo Michigami, a renowned Japanese driver. Jessica Hawkins, Head of F1 Academy and Driver Ambassador at Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team, will also participate, driving the Prelude HRC Concept.
The anniversary celebrations kicked off with the FW11's demonstration runs at the Shin Motor Fan Festa in Shizuoka, Japan, on April 19. Footage of this event is available on Honda's official YouTube channel. Future appearances include the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion in California, United States, scheduled for August.
Honda's victory in the 1986 season, marked by nine wins out of 16 Grands Prix, initiated a golden era for the company in F1. This period saw Honda secure multiple championship victories, further establishing its legacy in the sport.
Further details about Honda's activities at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026 and the history of its involvement in F1 are available on Honda's official websites dedicated to the 40th anniversary and the festival.
