Akita Prefectural Government to Boost Tourism and Trade with Delegation to Taiwan and Hong Kong

The Akita Prefectural Government has announced a high-level delegation, led by Governor Kenta Suzuki, to visit Taiwan and Hong Kong from July 19 to 23. The mission aims to enhance inbound tourism and expand the export channels of Akita's premium products, such as Akita Beef, Shirakami Negi, and local sake.

The delegation will commence their journey on July 19, traveling from Akita to Taipei. The agenda includes meetings with key stakeholders in the tourism and food sectors. On July 20, the group will engage with Tigerair Taiwan, Star Travel, and conduct a site inspection at Mayfull Fine Foods.

Governor Suzuki and his team will continue their efforts on July 21 with visits to the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association and several Taiwanese companies, including JIT CO., LTD., Taiwan Farm Industry Co., Ltd., and China Airlines. Later that day, the delegation will travel to Hong Kong.

While in Hong Kong on July 22, the group plans to meet with the Japan National Tourism Organization's Hong Kong office, local travel agencies, city'super, and the Japan External Trade Organization's Hong Kong office. These interactions aim to cultivate partnerships and promote Akita's offerings in the Hong Kong market.

The delegation, comprising 34 officials and business leaders, includes members from the Akita Prefectural Government led by Governor Suzuki, representatives from the Akita Prefectural Assembly, and individuals from various tourism and economic organizations. Additionally, it includes municipal representatives from Noshiro City, Oga City, Yurihonjo City, and Semboku City.

Upon concluding their activities, the delegation will return to Akita on July 23. This mission highlights Akita's strategic approach to fostering tourism and trade opportunities in East Asia, leveraging its cultural and product strengths.
