Toyota's GAZOO Racing division has introduced the GRMN Corolla, a limited-edition model engineered for high performance on Germany's Nürburgring racetrack. The model represents a refined version of the GR Corolla, inspired by Toyota Master Driver Akio Toyoda's vision to create a captivating driving experience.
The GRMN Corolla, available primarily in Japan, North America, and Australia, will begin sales in Japan in 2027, with sales negotiations opening via the GR app in autumn 2026. The vehicle is currently on display at the Fuji Motorsports Forest Welcome Center until June 28.
Designed for high-speed stability and car-driver unity, the GRMN Corolla boasts increased engine torque and exclusive aerodynamic features. The suspension system, fine-tuned through extensive Nürburgring testing, features monotube shock absorbers for improved traction and cornering performance. The model is equipped with high-grip Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, enhancing its road-holding capabilities.
Further development insights were gained from Toyota's participation in Japan's Super Taikyu Series, where the GR Corolla's hydrogen engine was tested. This experience contributed to the GRMN Corolla's engine evolution, achieving a maximum torque of 415 Nm, and optimizing performance in the mid-speed range crucial for circuit driving.
The GRMN Corolla's cockpit is designed to enhance driving performance, featuring a custom driver's seat and an instrument panel tailored for high lateral g-forces. The interior includes carbon-fiber ornamentation and exclusive design elements, emphasizing the model's focus on driver engagement.
Additionally, Toyota is developing the GR Corolla MORIZO RR, a 5-seater version equipped with the GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission. This model is currently displayed as a concept alongside the GRMN Corolla.
