Sharp Unveils AQUOS R11 Smartphone with AI-Enhanced Camera and Unique Features

Sharp Corporation has introduced the AQUOS R11, a high-end smartphone featuring advanced AI capabilities and innovative design elements. The device, which will be available in Japan and Taiwan starting July 9, 2026, boasts a camera system supervised by Leica Camera AG and includes AI-powered features that enhance photography and user privacy.

The AQUOS R11's camera setup includes a high-resolution triple camera system with 50.3 MP standard and ultra-wide lenses, and a 38.5 MP telephoto lens. The Smart Fit Zoom feature allows users to tap a dedicated icon, enabling AI to automatically adjust the zoom level for well-balanced compositions. Additionally, the Privacy Safe feature detects and masks text such as signs and billboards, protecting privacy when sharing images on social media.

In a move to create a more comfortable user experience, the AQUOS R11 introduces the Akarium feature, which uses a light positioned at the center of the rear camera ring to notify users of incoming calls and messages. The lighting incorporates eight colors inspired by nature, and is synchronized with healing sounds recorded from nature, offering relaxation during breaks or before bedtime.

The smartphone's display is a high-brightness Pro IGZO OLED with a peak brightness of 3,600 nits. The Smart Outdoor View feature enhances visibility by brightening low-tone areas based on ambient lighting conditions. Powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 Mobile Platform, the AQUOS R11 promises high processing performance, supported by a large-capacity 5,100 mAh battery and advanced heat-dissipation components for prolonged use.

Additional features include the AI-powered Vocalist, which eliminates background noise during calls, and a durable design with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and compliance with MIL standards. The device also offers dust and water resistance, ensuring functionality across various environments.

The AQUOS R11's design, supervised by miyake design, features a distinctive camera ring and glossy glass materials, available in three color options. Sharp has also collaborated with smartphone accessory brand temari to offer optional accessories that enhance the Akarium feature's ambient lighting effects.
