Nichibei Kaiwa Gakuin Achieves MEXT Accreditation for Japanese Language Education

The Nichibei Kaiwa Gakuin Japanese Language Institute in Tokyo has received accreditation from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), recognizing it as an Accredited Japanese Language Institution in the study abroad category. The accreditation, effective from April 30, 2026, affirms the institute's commitment to delivering high-quality Japanese language instruction and supporting students in achieving their educational and professional objectives.

The institute, operated by the International Education Center and housed in Yotsuya, Shinjuku-ku, currently has a total enrollment capacity of 140 students. As part of its accredited status, Nichibei offers a range of career development courses, including five distinct one-year courses and two additional two-year courses tailored for beginners. These programs are designed to cater to learners from varied backgrounds, equipping them with practical business Japanese skills through original materials crafted by experienced instructors.

Nichibei's president, Yo Konno, emphasized the institute's long-standing mission to foster global understanding and cooperation through high-quality Japanese education. Since its establishment in 1967, the institution has served over 9,000 students from more than 90 countries, reflecting its international reach and influence. The new MEXT accreditation underscores Nichibei's role in nurturing individuals who contribute to international peace and cultural exchange.

Conveniently located a short walk from Yotsuya Station, the institute offers a supportive learning environment that balances classroom instruction with individualized support services. Its infrastructure and faculty meet the rigorous standards set by MEXT, ensuring a reliable and quality-assured educational experience for students pursuing language acquisition in Japan.

The MEXT accreditation positions Nichibei Kaiwa Gakuin within Japan's reformed framework for Japanese language education, which emphasizes educational quality and operational standards over the previous notification-based system administered by the Ministry of Justice. This accreditation not only validates the institute's educational offerings but also imposes an expectation of continuous improvement in quality assurance and the learning environment.
