Mitsubishi Power Signs Long-Term Agreement for Batangas Power Plant

Mitsubishi Power, a division of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, has signed a Long-Term Parts and Services Agreement (LTPSA) with LNGPH and South Premiere Power Corporation (SPPC) for the 1,200MW Ilihan Combined Cycle Power Plant in Batangas, Philippines. This agreement extends the ongoing collaboration between the companies to include parts and inspection management.

Under the LTPSA, Mitsubishi Power's Philippine after-sales arm, MHI Power (Philippines) Plant Services Corporation (MHI-PSC), will supply critical parts and services to the M501G gas turbines at the plant. This includes the provision of hot parts, spare parts supply, repair works, and technical advisory services, ensuring the plant's operational reliability and optimal performance.

LNGPH, an integrated liquefied natural gas import and regasification terminal and gas-to-power complex in Batangas, operates with a total installed capacity of 2.5GW. The company supports the reliable supply of natural gas for power generation in the Luzon grid through its corporate entities, SPPC and Excellent Energy Resources Inc. (EERI).

The partnership reflects joint investments from Chromite Gas Holdings Inc., a venture between Meralco PowerGen Corp. and Aboitiz-owned Therma Natgas Power Inc., alongside San Miguel Global Power Holdings Corp. Akihiro Ondo, Managing Director and CEO of Mitsubishi Power Asia Pacific, emphasized the company's commitment to sustaining the performance and reliability of power assets, highlighting the long-standing operation of the M501G gas turbines at Ilihan.

Yari A. Miralao, President and CEO of LNGPH, expressed confidence in the plant's role in supporting the Philippines' energy needs, citing the power supply agreement extending through 2040. He noted that the LTPSA is a testament to the decades-long partnership built on trust and operational excellence.

Mitsubishi Power has a significant presence in the Philippines, contributing over a quarter of the nation's total installed capacity through major power plant developments. The country hosts one of four TOMONI® Hubs globally, providing remote monitoring and analytics, predictive diagnostics, and operational support for power plants across the Asia Pacific region.

Through these initiatives, Mitsubishi Power aims to support the Philippines' goals of strengthening energy security, reliability, and decarbonization.
