Toyota Motor Corporation has announced the launch of the FJ series, a new addition to its Land Cruiser lineup in Japan, with sales starting on May 14. The FJ series joins the existing 300, 70, and 250 Land Cruiser series, aiming to offer a vehicle that combines the brand's traditional reliability and off-road performance with a more compact, user-friendly design.
The FJ series was developed under the concept of 'Freedom & Joy,' intended to provide customers with diverse lifestyles the ability to enjoy the Land Cruiser experience. The vehicle features a durable ladder frame structure and a 2.7-liter gasoline engine paired with a 6 Super ECT transmission, ensuring both smooth on-road driving and robust off-road capabilities.
Design elements of the FJ series include a compact size that enhances mobility and maneuverability, while maintaining the Land Cruiser's hallmark square cabin for habitability and cargo space. The vehicle's exterior incorporates a dice motif for a playful touch, and it offers customization options through accessories, allowing customers to tailor the vehicle to their preferences.
Toyota also plans to introduce the Land Hopper, an electric personal mobility vehicle, by spring 2027. This vehicle is designed for off-road trails and can be stored in the Land Cruiser's luggage area, extending the brand's mobility offerings beyond traditional vehicles.
The FJ series is manufactured at the Ban Pho Plant in Thailand and will be available through Toyota's KINTO car subscription service, with monthly fees starting at 38,390 yen, including tax. The service includes automobile insurance, tax, and maintenance, offering a comprehensive package for customers.
The introduction of the FJ series reflects Toyota's commitment to evolving its product lineup to meet changing consumer demands while maintaining the core values that have made the Land Cruiser a trusted name in off-road vehicles.
