The Fukuoka Prize 2026 has announced its laureates, highlighting significant achievements in Asian studies and arts. HO Tzu Nyen, a contemporary artist known for depicting Asian history and memory through visual expression, has received the Grand Prize.
The Academic Prize was awarded to Caroline Sy HAU, a Filipino scholar noted for her insightful work on the freedom and future of Southeast Asian societies. Pichet KLUNCHUN, an innovative Thai dancer and choreographer, received the Arts and Culture Prize for his efforts to bridge traditional Asian dance with the modern world.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for Monday, September 14, 2026. HO Tzu Nyen and Pichet KLUNCHUN's public lectures will be held on Saturday, September 12, while Caroline HAU's lecture will occur on Tuesday, September 15. All events require advance booking, which will open in mid-July, and admission is free. Archived recordings of each event will be available online for future access.
