Fujitsu Launches Real-Time Management System for Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force

Fujitsu Limited has announced the deployment of a new core system designed for real-time management of supply chain information for the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF). The system, which became operational in May 2026, aims to enhance the JMSDF's ability to manage the supply of parts for vessels and aircraft, as well as the procurement and maintenance of ammunition, medical supplies, and food for approximately 45,000 personnel.

The new system enables centralized management of material supplies, providing real-time visualization to facilitate planning, procurement, maintenance, and supply processes. This advancement is expected to improve operational efficiency through demand forecasting and data utilization, thereby accelerating decision-making and strengthening Japan’s combat capabilities.

The implementation of the system comes at a time when Japan is revising its national security documents amid changing international dynamics. The JMSDF's missions are becoming increasingly complex, requiring a robust system to ensure rapid responsiveness with limited resources. Fujitsu's solution, based on SAP SE's ERP solution “S/4HANA,” marks the first use of this technology in a Japanese central government agency.

Yoshiro Horikawa, President & Representative Director of SAP Japan, expressed hopes that the system would advance logistics capabilities within the JMSDF. Takahito Tokita, CEO of Fujitsu Limited, highlighted the importance of the system in enabling real-time information management for supply materials, noting its significance in Japan's national security efforts.

Fujitsu plans to leverage the knowledge gained from this project to support similar initiatives in other organizations within the Ministry of Defense and other government agencies. The company remains committed to promoting stable operations and continuous improvements of the system, aiming to contribute to more advanced data utilization across various domains.
