Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has finalized the transfer of its domestic onshore wind power business to Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. (J-Power), effective April 1, 2026. The transaction, initially announced in November 2025, involves the handover of engineering and after-sales services, while excluding certain ongoing collaborations, such as the joint venture with Denmark's Vestas Wind A/S.
This strategic move aims to bolster J-Power's capabilities as a wind power developer by integrating MHI's expertise in the sector. The collaboration is anticipated to accelerate J-Power's wind power development initiatives and enhance its technical and maintenance proficiency, fostering further growth in the renewable energy landscape.
MHI expressed confidence that the transfer would not only deliver increased value to customers but also provide new growth and development opportunities for employees involved in the business. The completion of this transfer marks a significant step in MHI's strategic efforts to streamline its operations and focus on core areas of growth.
