Yusen Logistics Enhances Chicago Warehouse Operations with Tokyo Electron Device’s HAKO-FLO

Tokyo Electron Device Ltd. has announced that its U.S. subsidiary, Tokyo Electron Device America, Inc., successfully implemented its warehouse digital transformation solution, HAKO-FLO, at Yusen Logistics (Americas) Inc.'s Chicago warehouse. This strategic deployment aims to address operational inefficiencies in the logistics sector driven by increasing e-commerce volumes and labor shortages.

Yusen Logistics adopted HAKO-FLO to tackle issues such as misshipments due to labeling errors, variable image quality during inbound inspections, and delays from paper-based reporting systems. The technology leverages RFID and mobile-based image capturing to enhance accuracy and efficiency in warehouse operations.

Key features of the HAKO-FLO solution include RFID Query, EZ-report, and EZ-Snap Air. RFID Query allows for quick and precise cargo verification, reducing operational errors. EZ-report standardizes damage inspection reporting via tablets, while EZ-Snap Air facilitates seamless photo capture and reporting through smartphones, collectively expediting on-site documentation processes.

Following its introduction in July 2023, HAKO-FLO Cloud has improved collaboration across Yusen Logistics' operational teams by centralizing data management. This platform enables real-time sharing of scan data and images, enhancing visibility and coordination between field staff and management at multiple locations.

Looking ahead, Tokyo Electron Device America aims to extend HAKO-FLO's capabilities and expand into new sectors, striving to provide innovative solutions that bolster operational resilience and competitive advantage for its clients. This initiative is part of their commitment to fostering digital transformation rooted in practical, field-based applications.

Yosuke Shibata, Quality Assurance Director at Yusen Logistics, praised the deployment, stating, “Leveraging RFID and photographic documentation has significantly reduced the risk of errors and oversights. The quality of inspection processes has improved, and response time to customer needs has shortened.” Shibata emphasized the enhanced speed and accuracy in decision-making facilitated by real-time access to reports through HAKO-FLO Cloud.
