Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Delivers First L00 Series Trains to Seibu Railway

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has completed the delivery of the first L00 Series trainsets to Seibu Railway Co., Ltd., marking the commencement of commercial operations on the Yamaguchi Line, an automated guideway transit (AGT) system. The delivery includes three trainsets, each consisting of four cars, totaling 12 cars. The first train began operations on March 27, coinciding with a commemorative ceremony attended by local city officials.

The L00 Series trains, manufactured at MHI's Mihara Machinery Works in Hiroshima Prefecture, are set to be delivered sequentially through fiscal year 2027. Designed to enhance passenger capacity, the seating configuration has been updated from bench seats to longitudinal seats, accommodating increased traffic to destinations such as the BELLUNA DOME baseball stadium and Seibuen Amusement Park. To cater to diverse passenger needs, the trains feature wheelchair spaces, children's seats, and in-car information displays.

The new trains incorporate several unique specifications tailored for AGT systems. These include aluminum bodyshells, the MHI bogie, a ceiling duct air conditioning system, and the Advanced Mitsubishi Vehicle Control System (A-MVCS). The A-MVCS offers vehicle control, monitoring, and commissioning functions, providing flexibility to meet the requirements of railway operators. A large glass window in the partition wall between the driver's cab and the children's seat enhances the passenger experience by offering a view from the front window.

The AGT system employs rubber tires, ensuring a smooth and quiet ride. As a clean mobility solution with low CO2 emissions, the system supports environmental sustainability and contributes to the realization of a decarbonized, energy-efficient world. The combination of design excellence and environmental performance enhances the impression of the surrounding facilities.

MHI Group continues to focus on technological innovation, aiming to advance public transportation that safely and comfortably transports people and goods. This initiative aligns with the company's commitment to supporting the development of public transport systems that improve the quality of life globally.
