Hitachi Digital Services has announced the enhancement of its operational technology (OT) and informational technology (IT) integration through a new Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) platform. This advancement is set to transform Hitachi's discrete manufacturing sites into smart factories, emphasizing resilience and sustainability.
The MOM platform will expand Hitachi's HMAX Industry solutions, forming a robust base for AI-driven industrial modernization. Built on an open, modular integration framework, the platform ensures interoperability across diverse product lifecycle management and OT systems, enhancing its applicability in asset-heavy sectors like energy, high tech, manufacturing, and transportation.
Key features of the advanced MOM platform include a continuous digital thread for real-time traceability from design to manufacturing and quality management, data-driven decision-making through field data analysis to optimize quality, cost, and delivery, and scalable workflows that enable agile production systems responsive to market and customer demand fluctuations.
Refined across over 100 mission-critical manufacturing sites, Hitachi's MOM platform will power numerous Hitachi Group factories via a 'Customer Zero' approach. This initiative aims to improve productivity through human-machine collaboration and accelerate the transition to sustainable operations.
Jun Abe, Executive Vice President of Hitachi, Ltd., emphasized the company's strength in creating value by integrating extensive OT domains, including rail, energy, and industry. He noted that adding the proven MOM to their capabilities would advance the digital transformation of their OT sites and strengthen the HMAX Industry portfolio.
Roger Lvin, CEO of Hitachi Digital Services, highlighted the importance of smarter automation and agile production environments in addressing Industry 5.0 challenges such as scalability and supply chain integration. He stated that the introduction of advanced MOM capabilities would enhance their tech portfolio, providing disruptive cross-industry smart manufacturing and asset operations systems.
