Fujitsu Launches Uvance for Retail to Address Industry Challenges

Fujitsu Limited has introduced Uvance for Retail, a new solution designed to integrate data within a secure cloud environment, aimed at enhancing the Japanese retail sector's competitiveness and sustainability.

Uvance for Retail leverages Fujitsu's extensive experience and cutting-edge technologies, including agentic AI, to streamline fragmented data and operations across retail sites. The initiative seeks to improve on-site execution capabilities and management decision-making.

The Japanese retail industry faces several structural challenges, such as a declining population, labor shortages, and rising operational costs. These issues are compounded by fragmented systems and scattered data, which make comprehensive data utilization difficult, thereby affecting decision-making processes and competitiveness.

Fujitsu's history of over 50 years in supporting the Japanese retail market has provided the company with a deep understanding of industry-specific data structures. By incorporating GK Software and BrainPad Inc. into its operations, Fujitsu has strengthened its support system, combining industry knowledge with advanced technology.

Uvance for Retail aims to transform retail operations by integrating data and AI at its core. Fujitsu's specialized consultants identify management and operational challenges, designing optimal business processes and systems. The solution's AI components facilitate advanced decision-making and operational autonomy.

Fujitsu will showcase Uvance for Retail at RetailTech JAPAN 2026, demonstrating use cases of its data and AI capabilities. Exhibits will include enhancing customer touchpoints using causal inference AI, which helps companies understand customer actions and outcomes, and advanced decision-making with multi-AI agents to address data fragmentation issues.

Fujitsu's multi-AI agent system enables collaboration among AI agents to support cross-functional judgments, providing actionable insights and facilitating swift decision-making. The exhibition will feature AI agent Watomo, which assists merchandisers by analyzing data and simulating operational solutions.

Through these innovations, Fujitsu aims to support the sustainable growth of Japan's retail industry, enhancing consumer and employee experiences and advancing supply chains.
