NEC Corporation, in partnership with Pegatron Corporation and Edgecore Networks, has received the Bronze Badge certification from the Telecom Infra Project (TIP) for their new hardware products, Endeavor and AMX3200. These components are part of the Phoenix open and disaggregated 400G optical transponder platforms, which expand NEC's ecosystem portfolio.
The TIP certification underscores the collaborative effort to advance open, disaggregated, and interoperable telecommunications infrastructure. The Phoenix solution is defined by TIP's Open Optical and Packet Transport (OOPT) Project Group, which includes major telecom operators such as NTT, Telia, Telefonica, Vodafone, Deutsche Telekom, and MTN.
NEC's Phoenix Solution integrates the NEC Network Operating System (NOS) with white box hardware and third-party optical transceivers to facilitate flexible and scalable network deployments. The newly certified Endeavor and AMX3200 platforms are 1U-height white boxes designed for standard 19-inch rack mounting, each equipped with four CFP2-DCO ports supporting 400G coherent pluggable transceivers, enabling up to 1.6Tbps transmission capacity for Wavelength Division Multiplexing applications.
The NEC NOS, previously awarded the TIP Phoenix Gold Badge, is deployed universally on Phoenix-certified platforms, offering advanced hardware management and open APIs for seamless integration and automation. The Bronze Badge certification for Endeavor and AMX3200 further enhances the Phoenix ecosystem, promoting a multi-vendor environment and improving the reliability and flexibility of optical transport networks.
So Sato, Senior Director of NEC's Network Solutions Business Division, highlighted the achievement as a testament to the robustness of NEC's optical networking solution ecosystem. Arturo Mayoral, Head of Transport Technology at TIP, emphasized the impact of TIP's Phoenix open transponder design on the industry, noting the enriched ecosystem and accelerated interoperability among open solutions.
Dr. James Shue, SVP & CTO of Pegatron, expressed pride in achieving the TIP Phoenix Bronze Badge certification, reinforcing Pegatron's commitment to delivering high-quality, standards-based optical networking hardware. Nanda Ravindran, VP of Product Management and Planning at Edgecore, noted the expanded collaboration with NEC and the shared commitment to open, scalable, and interoperable optical transport solutions.
The research results were supported by a grant from the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology in Japan.
