Hitachi Energy Named Leader in Utilities Asset Performance Management by IDC MarketScape

Hitachi Energy has been recognized as a leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Utilities Asset Performance Management (APM) 2025–2026 Vendor Assessment. The evaluation, released in November 2025, assessed 12 APM providers based on their capabilities and strategies in the power and utilities industry.

As utilities face challenges such as aging infrastructure, clean-energy integration, and grid modernization, APM solutions have emerged as critical tools for achieving operational resilience and cost efficiency. According to IDC MarketScape, a modernized and data-driven approach to APM is now a strategic imperative for utilities.

John Villali, Senior Research Director at IDC Energy Insights, emphasized the importance of sophisticated APM solutions in utilities' digital and energy-transition strategies. He noted that Hitachi Energy, with its extensive experience in the utility sector, AI-driven APM solutions, and global customer base, is well-positioned to support utilities worldwide.

Hitachi Energy's APM offering includes over 175 prebuilt models for transformers, breakers, and substation assets. The company provides a fully integrated APM, enterprise asset management (EAM), and field service management (FSM) suite, offering a data-rich asset lifecycle management strategy that supports regulatory compliance globally.

Andy Howell, Global Head of Enterprise Software Product Group at Hitachi Energy, expressed satisfaction with the recognition by IDC, highlighting the company's large installed base in power transmission and distribution utilities and the adoption of integrated software solutions by these utilities.

Hitachi Energy APM is designed specifically for utilities, integrating asset health, reliability, and optimization into one suite. When combined with enterprise asset management and work management systems, it enables a closed-loop of asset lifecycle workflows. The solution leverages AI-driven analytics and network-aware context to enhance reliability, safety, and cost performance across transmission and distribution.

The APM solution is part of Hitachi's Asset & Work Management suite, which supports the HMAX Energy portfolio of digitally enabled services. HMAX by Hitachi is a suite of next-generation solutions utilizing AI to enhance social infrastructure.
