Fujitsu to Launch Sovereign AI Server Manufacturing in Japan

Fujitsu announced plans to commence manufacturing Made in Japan sovereign AI servers, addressing digital sovereignty needs amid growing cyber threats and regulatory pressures. The production, set to initiate in March 2026 at the Fujitsu Group's Kasashima Plant, will incorporate high-performance processors and enhanced security features.

The focus on sovereign AI servers is driven by the imperative to protect critical infrastructure from data leaks and to comply with local laws. The servers will be equipped with NVIDIA HGX B300 and NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs. Additionally, Fujitsu plans to produce servers featuring the FUJITSU-MONAKA processor, designed for energy efficiency and confidential computing technologies.

The production facility, leveraging Fujitsu's expertise from developing supercomputers like the Fugaku, will ensure full traceability and transparency from the circuit board to device assembly. This move is part of a broader strategy to enhance system risk management and digital sovereignty for essential infrastructure service providers under Japan's Economic Security Promotion Act.

Fujitsu is also expanding its strategic partnerships, notably with Super Micro Computer Inc., to sustain development, manufacturing, and sales operations for these AI servers. The company aims for global deployment, targeting both Japanese and European markets with these Japan-made server products.

The technology applied in the FUJITSU-MONAKA processor benefits from a project subsidized by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization, reinforcing Fujitsu's commitment to integrating cutting-edge innovations into its offerings.
