Fujitsu and Beisia Collaborate to Enhance Store Operations with IoT Solution

BEISIA CO., LTD. and Fujitsu Limited have initiated the deployment of Fujitsu's Advanced Operation & Management solution at Beisia stores to digitalize operations and enhance labor productivity. This initiative, part of Fujitsu’s Uvance business model, aims to automate temperature management of refrigeration and freezer facilities across all 138 Beisia stores in Japan by May 2026.

The solution, which began implementation in December 2025, is designed to streamline operations by complying with HACCP requirements, improving product freshness management, and reducing food loss. It provides alert notifications when temperature abnormalities exceed set thresholds, allowing for quicker responses to potential issues.

Beisia conducted a practical verification of the solution at its Beisia Foods Park Takasaki Kuragano store, confirming the effectiveness of temperature data management and efficiency gains for employees. Following successful verification, Beisia plans to roll out the solution across all its stores, with deployment starting December 2025.

Fujitsu's solution visualizes data from IoT sensors in real-time, allowing rapid deployment without dependence on specific hardware. IoT sensors attached to refrigeration and freezing equipment extract and display temperature information, eliminating the need for manual inspections and significantly reducing employee workload. Alerts are sent to operational communication tools when anomalies are detected, enhancing product freshness management and reducing food loss.

The revised Food Sanitation Act in Japan mandates HACCP implementation for all food-related businesses, making thorough temperature management crucial in the supermarket retail industry. Beisia's previous manual recording of temperatures twice daily for an average of 150 units per store posed a significant workload, prompting the need for an automated solution.

Fujitsu aims to leverage the knowledge gained from this implementation to further drive store digitalization through data and AI, enhancing labor productivity and promoting sustainable operations under its Uvance business model.
